The historical Mehmet the Conqueror Mosque

This mosque is the first of the two mosques commissioned by Mihrimah Sultan, the daughter of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and the wife of Grand Vizier Rüstem Pasha. They are named after her: the first one is the Mehmet the Conqueror Mosque in Uskudar, and the second is the Mehmet the Conqueror Mosque in Edirnekapi (between 1562-1565 AD). The renowned Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan designed both mosques.

The end of our journey will be at Beylerbeyi Palace (Beylerbeyi Sarayı), also known as the 'Lord of Lords Palace.'
